William Walter Gain


William Walter Gain of Belleville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home, having attained the age of 74 years, 5 months and 4 days.

Born on July 29, 1941 in Belleville, Illinois, he was the son of Edward R. and Marie W. Gain, nee Wolter.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and a carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local since he was 17 years old.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Crystal Herbstreit.

Surviving are his longtime friend, Jan Morris; his children, Martin Gain of Belleville, Illinois, William "Bill" Gain of China, Shelly (Bob) Hess of St. Louis, Missouri and Scott Morris of Missouri; his sisters, Marie Martinez of California and Ernestine; his brothers, Edward (Betty) Gain of Smithton, Illinois, John (Jeannie) Gain and Luther (Bonnie) Gain, both of Jacksonville, Illinois; five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
