Sharon Yvonne Petersen

Sharon Yvonne Petersen, nee Williams, 70, of Swansea, IL passed away on November 29, 2022. Sharon was born on September 11, 1952, to Paul and Lela Williams and they precede her in death.

Left to cherish her memory is her significant other, Gary “Eddy” Watkins of Belleville, IL, her children: Kristina Proffitt, nee Petersen, William “Billy” R. Petersen, and her ex-husband and the father of her children William F. Petersen; her sister Judy (Bud) Henington; her grandchildren: Sarah (Ben) Cunningham, Richard “Rick” Staggs, Alexander “Alex” Proffitt, Heather Proffitt, Apollo Petersen, Olivia Petersen, Maddox Petersen, Lylah Petersen, Kellan Petersen, Penelope Petersen, Jennifer Petersen and William R. Petersen, Jr.; her great-grandchildren: Fenrir Cunningham, Tyler Ray Kenner, Zoey Kenner, Kingston Proffitt, Aria Woodson, Mortikia Proffitt, Jalyn Petersen, Autumn Petersen, Hayden Petersen and William R. Petersen II, her nephew Paul Henington in addition to extended family and many beloved friends.

Sharon was very supportive of her children and always welcomed them with a big smile; she was their companion, friend, mother, and ally. She made it known in her own way that she loved her loved ones very much. Sharon was fun to talk to, bluntly honest and firm in her beliefs, she did not sway or bend from the truth or her opinions. Sharon had an outgoing personality and was not afraid to speak her mind. Sharon didn’t want to worry her family with her health matters and simply said “I’m fine” in the last couple of weeks while she was on hospice.

Per Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 11:00am through 1:00pm on Saturday January 7, 2022, at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. Memorial service will follow at 1:00pm.
