Scott Earl Swanson

Scott Earl Swanson, 70, of Hermann, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 8, 2025, in Washington, MO. Scott was born on October 10, 1954, in Jackson, MS to Gilbert and Mary (Smallwood) Swanson, and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela (Auffarth) Swanson.

Scott grew up in Belleville, IL and graduated from Belleville East High School. He then attended McKendree University and Belleville Area College, graduating with an associate degree. Scott worked hard all of his life, starting in his early teen years and finally retiring in 2011 from American Air Filter in Lebanon, IN as a plant manager. Over the years, Scott and his family lived in Smithton, IL, Lebanon, IN and later in life, Hermann, MO. Scott loved his property in Hermann and was known to maintain his yard like a park. Horticulture was a passion, and he enjoyed grafting trees and maintaining his various plants. He was always up for a DIY project and enjoyed helping out whenever he could.

In his spare time, Scott enjoyed traveling with his son, Matt and spent a year living with him in Italy. He dearly loved his granddogs, Lexi, Annie and Crockett and took great care of them. Scott’s family was most important to him, and he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jamie (Brian) Shedelbower and Matt (Tatiana) Swanson; his siblings: Bruce Swanson, Kim (Robert) Egbert and Dawn (Scott) Peters and his grandson, Leo Swanson, in addition to nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Scott will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
