Ruth A. Eschmann

Ruth Ann Eschmann, nee Williams, 87 of Shiloh, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday October 17, 2026. Ruth was born on October 15, 1939, in Granite City, IL to Emerson and Ann (Davis) Williams and her parents precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dixie (Mike) Schieffer; her former spouse, Marvin Eschmann; her niece, Rosie Schieffer and her nephew, Tom Schieffer.

Ruth taught high school English at Belleville West High School for many years. After retirement, she continued substitute teaching at several area elementary schools. A lifelong musician, Ruth played organ and piano at many area churches over the years. Later in life, Ruth composed and recorded her own songs. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Edward Eschmann, Julie Eschmann and Cary Eschmann; her brother, Ray Williams and her niece, Beth Masters in addition to many more great-nieces and great-nephews, her extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 7, 2026, from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. Funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Eschmann family, specifically to Edward Eschmann.
