Roger G. Payne

Roger Gene Payne, 70, of Mascoutah, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

He was born on June 14, 1955, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Maxie and Patricia Payne.

Roger dedicated 40 years of service as a Food and Safety Inspector with the USDA, a career marked by diligence and commitment.

Roger had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found great joy in hunting, nature, and sharing good food with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Adam (Abbey) Payne; his daughter, Katie (Damian) Rodgers; his sister, Debbie (John) Dirksmeyer; his brother, Jerry (Theresa) Payne; and his cherished grandchildren, Blyss and Dahlia Payne, and Kennedy, Paisley, and Finley Rodgers in addition to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and many friends.

Roger deeply appreciated the kindness and compassionate care he received from the staff at the nursing home along with the friends he made there.

Per Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
