Mr. Ricky T. Matecki of Millstadt, IL departed this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. He was 73 years old.
Rick was born on November 13, 1952, the son of Theodore and Angeline (nee Kryger) Matecki. He was a truck driver with Chick Fritz Distributing and worked for United States Postal Service in St. Louis, MO.
You could always notice Rick around Millstadt wearing his custom-made sleeveless T-shirts and sweat towel around his neck. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and a Harley rider for life. He loved to wrench on Harleys and dabbled in gunsmithing as well. He also enjoyed boating and camping and having good times at Moredock Lake. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Teamsters Union. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Left to mourn his passing are his two sons, Andrew and wife Carrie Matecki and Timothy Matecki; four grandchildren Chase Matecki, Jackson Matecki, Presley Matecki and Vivian Matecki; his life partner and love, Judy Sikes; three brothers, Brian (JoLynn) Matecki of Millstadt, IL, Jeff (Shawn) Matecki of Ashley, IL and Eric Matecki of Millstadt, IL; nephews, Tony (Michele) Matecki of Waterloo, IL, Mitchell (Emily) Matecki of Millstadt, IL, Lucas (Alexandria) Matecki of Columbia, IL, Dustin Matecki of Ashley, IL and god-son Austin Matecki of Ashley, IL; numerous great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Angeline (nee Kryger) Matecki and a brother Alan Matecki.
In accordance with the wishes of Rick and his family, cremation was performed.
Visitation will be held at Hoffen Funeral Home, Millstadt, IL on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4PM - 7PM. A prayer service will follow at 7PM with Fr. Evaristus Akabuize, presiding. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
