Richard M. Hohenstein, 76, of Freeburg, IL passed away peacefully on Friday July 10, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1949 in Washington, D.C. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Veta (Tolley) Hohenstein.
Richard was a member of Hope Christian Church of Freeburg, IL. He enjoyed Bible study and attending services very much. Richard was an avid reader and loved to tell "dad" jokes. He enjoyed puzzle books and writing poetry. Richard will be remembered as a very intelligent man and someone who was witty and had a positive outlook on life.
Richard is survived by many friends who loved and cared for him.
A celebration of Richard's life is being planned; per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions in memory of Richard M. Hohenstein may be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Hoffen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
