Reggie Jean Burress passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 80.
Reggie was born on April 11, 1946, in Batesville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Joe L. and Wanda Lee (Millspaugh) Sherrill. She later moved to Illinois with her family and graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1964. In 1980, she married Bob Burress at St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, Illinois.
Reggie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Bob Burress; daughters, Denise Caldwell (Don Spurlin) and DeLaine Crossley (Steve); stepson, Bobby Burress; grandchildren, Carissa Caldwell, Daniel Mueller (Alexis), Carly Caldwell (fiancé Kaden Woods), and Kelsey Hughes; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Mueller, Amelia Hughes, Mason Hughes, and Luther Mueller; and her brother, Bobby Joe Sherrill (Janie). She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Harley, who was a cherished companion and faithful friend.
Reggie had a deep love for Arkansas, where she grew up, and for the beauty of the outdoors. She loved camping and fishing and enjoyed spending time in nature, appreciating the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. She found joy in the beauty around her and in the time she spent with the people and animals she loved.
Reggie retired from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where she spent many years as part of the university community. Before her time at SIUE, she was a cosmetologist and owned and operated her own beauty salon, The Hair Station, in Collinsville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and Joe Sherrill; her sister, Patricia Lynne Trame; and many other beloved relatives.
Above all, Reggie will be remembered for the love she shared and the memories she created with those closest to her. Her family and friends will carry those memories with them and treasure the many ways she touched their lives. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and in the many lives she touched.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and no services are planned.
