Paul W. Bernheisel, 86, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully in Maryville, IL on Sunday July 20, 2025. Paul was born in Kane, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1939, to Ralph E. and Leona L. (Sieger) Bernheisel and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara J. (Black) Bernheisel.
Paul grew up in Bradford and Kane, Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the United States Army after high school. Upon his return to civilian life, he began working for Crown Cork and Seal as a machine operator and spent many years there. Later, he went to work as a bus driver at Lambert St. Louis International Airport until his retirement.
In his spare time, Paul enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He had a love for eagles and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna (Roblee) Bernheisel, his children: John Bernheisel, Daniel (Laurie) Bernheisel, Sharon Bernheisel and Michael (Shannon) Bernheisel; his step-children: Donna Severs, Tammy (Joe) Wells, April (Rob) McGuire and William (Kim) Starr; his brother, David (Norine) Bernheisel, 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.
