Columbia, IL

Pansy Sue Pautler, affectionately known as “Pat,” was born on October 3, 1952. Pat was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loyal sister and loving partner whose life was deeply shaped by family and enduring relationships.

Three marriages held special significance in Pat’s life. She shared many meaningful years with Elmer Brandhorst, with whom she built a family and raised children who remained the center of her world. She was also married to Scott Reeves, another important chapter in her life’s journey and shared a child. Later in life, she married Nick Pautler, a union that brought her companionship, care and the name she carried.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Marie Ward (Parks) and Haskell Ray Ward, as well as her beloved siblings, Levi Ward, Donald Ward, Jessie Ward, Dema and Wanda Nold, whose memories stayed close to her heart throughout her life.

Her greatest pride and joy were her children: Lisa Lea Brandhorst Witzel (Rob), Jason Lester Brandhorst (Lori) and Scott Eugene Reeves. Pat was a devoted granny to Jacob Andrew Eigelberger, Jack Samuel Witzel, Julia Rose Witzel and Laney Christine Brandhorst, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness, laughter and love.

She is also survived by her siblings, Bonnie Vogel, Loretta Gilstrap and Larry Ward, with whom she shared lifelong bonds built on family history, resilience and cherished memories. Pat also leaves behind her dear friend of 55 years, Pat Maul Moeckel, whose friendship brought steadfast love, shared history and unwavering support throughout her life.

Known simply as “Pat” to those who loved her, she will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering devotion to family, her humor, her fun outlook and the quiet ways she showed her love. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and the many lives she touched along the way.

The family is planning a celebration of Pat’s life for a later date.
