Melvin A. Haas

Melvin A. Haas, 64, of Marissa, IL passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday April 8, 2026. He was born on May 7, 1961, in East St. Louis, IL to Bobby and Darlene (Merritt) Haas, Sr. and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Janet Kreke, Annie Theis, Debbie Marshall and Mary; and his brothers: Bobby Haas, Jr., David L. Haas and Raymond Haas.

Melvin grew up in East St. Louis, IL and graduated from Belleville West High School. He worked in the construction field for many years. He recently retired from Wiegmann Manufacturing in Freeburg, IL.

Melvin was a big San Francisco 49ers fan and loved watching football and the History Channel in his spare time. He was a great singer, and he had a good sense of humor. He was a very generous person and was always glad to help anyone out. Most important to him was his family and the time he spent with them. Melvin will be remembered as a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kymbre (Owen) Brenning and Brett Haas, his siblings: Brenda Theis, Larry Hass, Pete Haas and Richard Haas; his grandchildren: Owen Brenning, Graycen Brenning, Harper Brenning and Emmett Haas in addition to his extended family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
