Mary Lou Galle, 89, of Millstadt, IL passed away at Memorial Hospital in Belleville on Wednesday March 2, 2022. She was born on April 3, 1932, in East St. Louis, IL to Martin and Lucille Drennan, nee St. John, and they precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Galle, her sons Stephen Galle and Robert “Bobby” Galle, her sister Betty Schroeder and her brother, John Drennan.
Mary Lou grew up in East St. Louis, IL and graduated from Dupo High School. She moved to Millstadt where she raised her family. Mary Lou worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company her entire career. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt and the St. James Society of St. Vincent de Paul as well as the St. James Ladies Sodality. In her spare time, she enjoyed meeting with the Dupo Lunch Bunch, traveling, going to craft shows, watching the Chicago Cubs and loved being on the go. She was a very charitable person and practiced gratitude for all the blessings of her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Kim (Rick) Johnston, Mary Lynne (Joel) Mueth, David Galle, her siblings; Joe (Cathy) Drennan, David (Sandy) Drennan, Katherine (Galen) Adams, Christine (Wayne) Reuss, Nancy Steele, her sister-in-law; Marjorie Galle, her grandchildren; Chris (Kristi) Johnston, Sarah (Austin) Foutch, Heather (Abram) Bearth, Nicole Hupka, Jenny (Adam) Miear, Tara (Ryan) Radake, Jared Mueth (Stephanie), Megan (Tyler) Kleinschmidt and eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
Visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday March 5, 2022 from 9am-11am, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with Msgr. Marvin Volk, officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. James Society of St. Vincent de Paul or St. James Church.
