Mary Estelle Gwaltney

Mary Estelle Gwaltney, of Scott Air Force Base, died, Sunday, March 5, 2017, having obtained the age of 98 years and 16 days. Mary was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Ernest Carl and Ireneia, nee Stephens, Creel, Sr. She married Marion Lewis Gwaltney Sr. on September 14, 1946, in Bluff Park, Alabama. Marion died on June 21, 1987.
Ms Gwaltney was a graduate of Auburn University. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bluff Park Methodist Church, Bluff Park, Alabama.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Marion Lewis "Hap" Gwaltney Jr. her brothers Ernest Carl (Willodean) Creel, and John Stephens Creel Sr.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Dale) Gwaltney Sims, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Diana White Gwaltney, Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Kendell (Brian) Shows, Dothan, Alabama, Kathryn (Matthew) Lemak, Birmingham, Alabama, Taylor (Abby) Gwaltney, Boaz, Alabama, Leigh Gwaltney, Birmingham, Alabama, Justin (Megan) Sims, /Acworth, Georgia, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
