Martha L. Vogel, née Kalert, passed away on 5/26/2026. She was born on September 11, 1943, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville and was a graduate of Academy of Notre Dame.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clarence and Anna Marie Kalert, née Bauer; her son, Jeffrey William Vogel; one grandson; her sister, Rita (Bill) Pierce of St. Louis; brothers-in-law Harold Weik, Joe Svec, Sr., and Edward Mueth, Sr.; as well as two nephews and one niece.
In her earlier years, Martha worked for Juen & Tedesco Attorneys, Hess Construction Supply Company, Pet, Inc., Green-Waltman Eye Institute, and the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate. She also devoted her time as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and was an active member of the Perpetual Help Council of Catholic Women at St. James Catholic Church.
Martha is survived by her loving children, Julie (Tom) Lucas of Edwardsville and Jan David Vogel (Dave) of Chesterfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers, Clarence “Chuck” (Patricia) Kalert of Freeburg and Charles (Deborah) Kalert of Jensen Beach; and her sisters, Evelyn Mueth of Louisville, Eleanore (Kenneth) Ahlers of Belleville, Cathy (Donald) Harris of Freeburg, Eileen Svec of Belleville, and Shirley Weik of Lenzburg. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Martha had a deep love for boating, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, faith, and the many lives she touched throughout her life.
