Margie M. Crain of Columbia, Illinois, formerly of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbia, Illinois, having attained the age of 94 years, 5 months and 4 days.
Born in St. Genevieve, Missouri on April 22, 1923, she was the daughter of Francis and Frances Robison. She was united in marriage to James Edward Crain on August 17, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1980.
Margie was a factory worker at Switzers and a cook at Popes Cafeteria in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and an avid bingo player and good prayer warrior.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, James Edward Crain, her children, Robert William Crain, Raymond Crain and Patricia Kay Crain; her son-in-law, Harry Whelan; seven brothers; her brother-in-law, Marvin Hardin and her great-grandson, Michael Pratt.
Surviving are her children, Betty (Homer) Duncan, Linda Whelan, both of Millstadt, Illinois and P. Crain of Highland, Illinois; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Crain of Marshville, Missouri; her sister, Louise Hardin of Patoka, Illinois; her brother, Earl Robison of OFallon, Illinois; her grandchildren, Patricia Pratt of Millstadt, Illinois, Valerie Crain of Godfrey, Illinois, Anthony (Nicole) Duncan of Baldwin, Illinois, Raymond Crain, Jr. of Godfrey, Illinois, Edward (Tiffany) Crain , Jason Crain of Collinsville, Illinois, Rhonda Crain and Tia Crain; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Crain, Morgan Elizabeth Crain, Jace (Cassie) Duncan with the United States Marine Corps in North Carolina, Preston Crain, Aspen Duncan of Red Bud, Illinois, Mason Crain, Addison Crain and Thomas Michael Duncan of Red Bud, Illinois, nieces, nephews, special friends, Rich Menke and Sandy Menke and many friends.
A special thanks to Rich Menke and Sandy Menke for all their help, care and support of our mother, to the Visiting Angels and the staff and nurses of Columbia Rehab for the exceptional care for our mother.
Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church in the form of masses.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
