Lloyd "Buddy" J. Menees

Lloyd “Buddy” J. Menees, Jr., 75, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully on Friday September 25, 2026. Buddy was born on April 23, 1951, in Anna, IL to Lloyd J. and Wilhelmina (Theis) Menees, Sr. and his parents precede him in death. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Menees, his sisters: Sally Etling and Margie Menees and a grandchild in infancy.

Buddy grew up in Millstadt, IL and graduated from Belleville West High School. His working life began as a coal miner and later he worked for Chrysler Motors. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.

In his spare time, he loved playing cards, especially pinochle, with his family and friends. He also enjoyed shooting pool, riding motorcycles and working on cars. His family describes Buddy as the man you would always call on when you needed help. He was a very generous person. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Amy Haskell, Matthew (Jennifer) Menees, Heather Simpkins and Kelly (Brittany) Langley; his siblings: Shirley (Scott Tedrick) McCormick, Ivan (the late Mary) Menees, Barb (Chet) Barker, Jerry (Sandra) Menees and Mary (the late Richard) Proctor; his grandchildren: Samantha Haskell, Abby Menees, Lily Menees, Reiss Simpkins, Melody Langley, Levi Langley, Rex Langley and Lyra Langley and 3 great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday October 17, 2026, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St. Millstadt, IL. Memorial service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Millstadt Food Pantry and envelopes will be available.
