Larry E. Morber, Jr.

Larry Eugene Morber, Jr., 62, of Swansea, IL passed away at his home on Sunday August 23, 2026. He was born on August 13, 1964, in Riverside, CA to Larry E. Morber, Sr., and Mary Sue (Tyson) Morber and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his long-time significant other, Jody Ludgate and his brother, Jimmy Hank Morber.

Larry grew up in Riverside, CA on the side of a mountain. This closeness with nature’s majesty inspired his lifelong love of the outdoors. Professionally, Larry worked for Peerless Premier Appliance Company as a press operator and later he worked with his brother at TNB Improvements as a Rehab Specialist.

Larry loved to live his life by his own rules. He was a true fisherman at heart and could fish anywhere, any time of year. He was a member of the St. Clair County Anglers for many years and always said that was his favorite place to be. This was also where he earned the name “fish soul taker.”

Larry loved a good party and a cold beer. He had a great sense of humor and could always make those around him laugh. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to help out anyone in need. Larry had a love for cats and spent many years rescuing cats and kittens. Most important to Larry was his family and the time he spent with them. He will be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ashley Morber and Sarah Morber; his siblings: Tammy Campe, Bobby Morber and Tina Peterson; his grandchildren: Marcus Jones, Shayla Jones, Hayley Morber, Destiny Morber, Jaxson Happle, Eli Ludgate and Makayla Ludgate; one great-grandchild; his nephews: Gary Powers, Jr. and Kenny (Emily) Powers; his niece, Mandy (Jeff) Jackson; his best friend, Gary Powers, Sr.; several great-nieces and great-nephews, many fishing buddies and countless friends.

The family would like to thank the first responders who worked very hard to try to save Larry.

A celebration of life is being planned for a future date.
