Karen Marie Ferguson

Karen Marie Ferguson, 60 of Belleville, Illinois passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Belleville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday September 30, 2020. Karen was born on January 15, 1960 in Red Bud, Illinois to Charley Dotson and Betty Cahoon, nee Herzog and they precede her in death.

Karen spent her working years as a cook and a bartender until retiring early to care for her beloved grandchildren. Karen was always up for a good homecoming picnic or bar-b-que; she loved to be around people and to enjoy all the offerings of these type of events. She also enjoyed going camping with her loved ones and she loved listening to country music. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen Ferguson, Sr. whom she married in Belleville, Illinois on Valentine’s Day, 2006; her brothers, Harold Flach and James Dotson, sister Becky Dotson and cousin, Kenny Dotson.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Brian (Cathy) Dotson of Belleville, Illinois, step-daughter, Tamara (Noah Dillard) Seymore of Hecker, Illinois and step-son, Allen (Joann) Ferguson, Jr. of Arkansas; her sister, Debbie Winkelmann of New Athens, Illinois, her brother, David (Henrietta) Dotson of Tennessee; her beloved grandchildren; Kylie Dotson of Belleville, Illinois, Bailey Seymore of Hecker, Illinois and Jacob, Jody and Alexis Ferguson all of Arkansas and great-grandson, Tremoni Seymore of Hecker, Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Sunday October 4, 2020 from 1pm-4pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, Illinois. Private funeral services will be held. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all must wear a face mask, use hand sanitizer, practice social distancing and only 25 people will be allowed inside the funeral home at a time.
