Judy Otersen

Judy Otersen, nee Belton, 74, of Sparta, IL passed away peacefully at home on Saturday March 28, 2026. Judy was born on October 7, 1951 in Sparta, IL to Robert and Mary (Sattlerwhite) Belton and her parents precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy Otersen; her sister, Brenda Little and her brother-in-law, Rodney Little.

Judy began her working life at Randolph County Nursing and Rehab where she met her future husband, Donald Otersen. Later, she spent many years as a stay-at-home mother raising her two children and a few dogs. She ultimately retired from the Gilster Mary Lee Corporation. She always had a garden to tend to and many plants. She loved nature and being outside. Her handwriting was remarkable and when you received a letter you knew immediately who it was from. She always made time to live life to the fullest and she loved relaxing car rides to her favorite places. She was known as a great cook and took care of everyone around her. Judy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sherry (Sean) Otersen; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Otersen; her brother, Floyd Belton; her sister, Laura (the late Terry) Tracy; her grandchildren, Codie Otersen, Kyle (Shauna) Otersen; her nieces and nephews: Lisa (Dallas) Braun, Rhett Little, Christopher Little, Brianna Terry, Robby Terry and David Terry in addition to extended family and many beloved friends. 

Per Judy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
