John Martin Ehret, 70, of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday August 3, 2023, in St. Louis, MO. John was born in Belleville, IL on November 25, 1952, to Milton and Martha (Fischer) Ehret and they precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Edward Ehret, his niece Maria del Carmen, his father-in-law Albert “Lefty” Dietrich and his mother-in-law Genevieve L. (Benedict) Dietrich.
John grew up in Belleville, IL and graduated from Belleville East High School in 1970. He then attended college at Belleville Area College, known now as SWIC, and graduated with his associate degree. He then entered the workforce and was most recently employed at the Centene Corporation as a Systems Administrator. He married his beloved wife of 45 years, Jean Ehret, nee Dietrich on September 24, 1977, in Belleville, IL. His love for Jean was the center of his life.
In his spare time, John enjoyed bicycle riding and was known for raising money through Pedal the Cause. He also enjoyed photography as his main hobby. John was an avid hockey fan and followed the St. Louis Blues religiously. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and the new St. Louis City Soccer team play soccer. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and dear friend to many.
In addition to his dear wife, John is survived by his children: Andrea (Edward) Thomas, Ross (Christina) Ehret and Zachary (Heather) Ehret, his sister Sandra (Jack) Flanagan, his brothers-in-law: Albert “Rich” (Ann) Dietrich, Steven (Fran) Dietrich, Paul Dietrich, John “Jack” (Cindy) Dietrich; his grandchildren: Taylor Ehret, Logan Ehret, Heidi Ehret, Brody Thomas, Jackson Ehret, Henry Ehret, Genevieve Ehret, Addison Ehret, Jett Thomas, Anders Ehret and dear friend George Liverpool in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
