John C. Kuenne

John “Jack” Charles Kuenne, 87, of O’Fallon, MO, formerly of Millstadt, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday July 9, 2025. Jack was born on April 19, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Gladys (Jesse) Kuenne and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Ann Kuenne in 1987 and his beloved wife Judith Ann (Smith) Kuenne in 2017.

Jack was raised in Belleville, IL and graduated from Assumption High School in East St. Louis, IL. He immediately began work as a meat cutter and after many years, he became a salesman, the career he would ultimately retire from. Jack was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, IL for many years and after his move to Missouri, he became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dardene Prairie, MO. Jack’s greatest joy in life was his family and he especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed taking great care of his beloved dogs. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Joseph (Crystal) Kuenne, his daughters: Jill (Heather Montes-Ireland) Kuenne and Susan Cox; his sister, Sharlene (Robert) Hatzl; his grandchildren: Jacob Kuenne and Ella Kuenne in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2025 from 9:00am-11:30am at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. Funeral service will follow at 11:30am with Deacon Bill Johnson, presiding. A luncheon will be held immediately following the funeral service at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. Private interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, IL where Jack will be laid to rest next to Judith and Ann.
