John “Jack” H. Kramer, 90, of Millstadt, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 14, 2026. Jack was born on September 23, 1935, in East St. Louis, IL to John C. and Betty L. (Davis) Kramer and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Emma Lepere and John and Nancy Davis and his cousins: Barbara (Chadeayne) Fults, Richard Chadeayne and George Chadeayne.
Jack grew up in East St. Louis, IL. He graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, California. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley earning his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He then continued his education earning his master’s degree in chemistry from Washington State University. Jack began his working life as a chemical engineer and later was called to the teaching profession and spent the majority of his career teaching high school chemistry in Mendocino County, California. After his retirement, Jack worked at local wineries as a chemist in their labs.
In his spare time, Jack enjoyed snow skiing and photography. He traveled extensively with the International Camera Club. Jack was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt and a charter member of the St. James Over 50 Club. He spent countless hours volunteering for the Millstadt Senior Center and the St. James St. Vincent de Paul Society. Jack will be remembered for his kindness and sharp wit by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his cousins: Patty Evansco, Peggy Todd, Diana Wright, Theresa Galle and Lucy Hitsman in addition to many friends.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, IL with Msgr. Marvin Volk, presiding-date and time are forthcoming. Please check the funeral home’s website for updates.
