John E. Hoehn, Jr., 91, of Belleville, Illinois, was called home to our loving God on September 5, 2025.
He was born on February 24, 1934, in Belleville to John Hoehn, Sr. and Lucille Hoehn (née Zink), the youngest of three children. Raised in a musical family, John had a beautiful voice and a lifelong love for singing harmony in barbershop quartets and men’s harmony choirs. He was a great outdoorsman, known to fish in lakes throughout Southern Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky. A hunter in his youth, John gave it up in favor of wildlife conservation, often saying that he hoped to see the animals he encountered once again. John was selflessly devoted to his entire family, whom he adored.
Drafted into the U.S. Army, John served his country while deployed to Korea. Back at home, he was an accountant at Carling Brewery and later Robert Chick Fritz, Inc. until retirement.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (née Koehler), and his sisters, Bobbie Jean Bouscher and Rosemary Goodnick. He is survived by his stepchildren Randy Lauf and Allison Lauf, his granddaughter and great grandson, beloved nieces Dottie Boscoe and Lori Pirson, and their children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 13, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL 62260.
