Guenther K. Georgi

Guenther Kurt Georgi, 84, of New Baden, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday June 16, 2025. He was born on June 17, 1940, in Germany to Paul R. and Margaret E. (Riepe) Georgi. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Heumann) Georgi, his brother, Klaus Georgi and his grandson, Nicholas Bennett.

Guenther grew up in Germany and immigrated to the United States. Upon arriving in the US, he met the love of his life and started a family in Crete, IL. He was a member of St. Liborius Parish in Steger, IL. Guenther dedicated over 30 years to his work as welder repairman/electrician at Ford Motor Company.

After retirement, he earned his private pilot’s license and flew his Cessna recreationally. In his spare time, Guenther enjoyed collecting things, especially coins, and he also had a very large collection of decorative plates.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Desiree Bennett, Margaret Georgi and Kurt Georgi; his grandchildren: Jeremy Bennett, Kyle (Abby) Bennett, Alyssa Bennett, Michael Georgi and Mikayla Georgi, one great-grandson on the way, in addition to extended family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and dear friend of many.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 21st, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Liborius Catholic Church, 71 W. 35th St., Steger, IL 60475. Interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood, IL.
