Dorothy Lee Scharf of Millstadt, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her home having attained the age of 75 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Born in Drakesboro, Kentucky on September 23, 1938, she was the daughter of James Estil and Mary Lorene Knight, nee Brewer. She was united in marriage to Robert Scharf on September 4, 1998 in Belleville, Illinois and he survives her passing.
Mrs. Scharf was a member of the clerical staff at Golden Dipt in Millstadt, Illinois for 30 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers, James Knight and Pete Knight.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Scharf of Millstadt, Illinois; her children, Debra (Tony) Jarvis of Millstadt, Illinois, Thomas (Julie) Sumner of Drakesboro, Kentucky and Patricia (Robert Cagle) Bowers of Millstadt, Illinois; her step-children, Melissa (Jim) Helfrich of Millstadt, Illinois, Robert E. (Natalie) Scharf of Springfield, Illinois, Barbara (Robert) Palmer of St. Louis, Missouri and T. J. Scharf of Hollywood, Florida; her sister, Barbara (Ray) Arnold of Drakesboro, Kentucky; her sisters-in-law, Ivadell Knight and Sharon Knight, both of Drakesboro, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Eader of Millstadt, Illinois, Leslie (Billy Ross) Jarvis of Odin, Illinois, T. J. Jarvis of Millstadt, Illinois, Josh Sumner of Clearwater, Florida, Stacey (Brent) Sommerfield, Justin (Jeana) Rist, both of Millstadt, Illinois and Travis Bowers of St. Louis, Missouri; her step-grandchildren, Brett Helfrich, Jordan Helfrich, Ryan Helfrich, Taylor Helfrich, Max Scharf, Mia Scharf, all of Millstadt, Illinois, Kristin Palmer, Tori Palmer, Amelia Palmer and Maggie Palmer, all of St. Louis, Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Grant Sommerfield, Garrett Sommerfield, Carly Sommerfield, Jaidyn Rist and Josie Rist, all of Millstadt, Illinois, nieces, nephews; her lifelong friend, Ann Pendly and many other friends.
Friends may call on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Illinois.
