Cheryl D. Clossen, nee Darby, 65, of Paderborn, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday August 1, 2024. Cheryl was born on September 27, 1958, in St. Louis, MO to Robert L. and Pear E. (Koch) Darby and her parents precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Debbie Ann Darby, her in-laws, Ruby and August Clossen, brothers-in-law, Carl Clossen, Louis Barber and Tim Clossen, sisters-in-law, Nancy Appel, Jessie (Scott) Stryker and Sharon Clossen.
Cheryl grew up in south St. Louis County and graduated from Hancock High School. She then entered Forest Park Community College and earned her degree in nursing. Cheryl then began her career as a registered nurse. Most notably, she worked for the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in Ruma, IL for many years, later caring for various congregations of sisters in St. Louis, MO until her retirement in 2022.
In her spare time Cheryl loved to travel. Favorite destinations include Hawaii, Branson, MO, Florida, Las Vegas and South Carolina. She also loved treasure hunting at area yard sales and spending time outdoors. She loved all animals, especially her beloved dog, Lucky Antone Clossen. Most of all, Cheryl loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 31 years, John Clossen, her sister, Denise (Ben) Clossen, her niece, Christine (Cameron) Vielweber, her nephews, Shannon (Samantha) Clossen and Roger (Mary) Stryker, her cousin, Paula Koch, and her great-nieces, Rylee Vielweber, Ruby Vielweber and Daytona Clossen in addition to many beloved friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2024, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:00pm for a graveside service at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Paderborn, IL.
