Charles “Chuck” Russell Rackley, 72, of Coulterville, IL passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday April 15, 2026. Chuck was born on July 16, 1953, in Belleville, IL. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Nick Machisen and his mother, Norma (Rice) Machisen and his brothers: Milton “Butch” Rackley, Randall Rackley and Donald Rackley.
Chuck was a lifelong resident of Coulterville, IL. He was drafted into service in March 1971and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War until March 1974. His distinguished service included being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Grenade Medal and Marksmanship Medal for the M-16. Upon his return from service, he would spend the remaining years of his working life in construction.
Chuck was a free spirit and proud rebel. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing. Music was special to him as well, and he loved The Beatles and Bob Dylan especially. Chuck enjoyed relaxing with his friends and family sharing drinks at cookouts and just having a good time. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sara (Matt) Wagner and Sadi (Tom) Maynor, his sisters: Kristi Rackley and Beth (Alan) Kane; his grandchildren: Lexy Jebron, Lance Maynor, Max Maynor and Wyatt Jebron in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Chuck will be laid to rest at Coulterville Cemetery, 777 Nashville Road, Coulterville, IL on Saturday May 9, 2026, at 1:00pm. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at Bucks Town Pub, 204 E. Maple, Coulterville, IL immediately following with food and drinks.
