Charles A. Hurt, Jr, 79 of Waterloo, IL passed away on October 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on November 3, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Charles A. and Alvera J. Hurt, Sr., nee Harrison and they precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana M. Hurt, nee Lessmen and his sister, Carmaleda Knelang.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. Charles retired from the Bel Ridge, MO police department, having attained the rank of Chief of Police. He then worked as a sales manager for Suntrup Motors before fully retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and gardening. Most of all, Charles enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and spending time with his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Brad (Katelyn) Hurt of Waterloo, his grandchildren: K.C. Hurt, Kinzley Hurt, Lily Palmer, Levi Nicholson, Bo Hurt and one grandchild on the way. Charles is also survived by many beloved friends.
Per his wishes, his body was cremated, and the family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date. Memorial contributions in Charles’ name may be made to Backstoppers.
Hoffen Funeral Home in Millstadt is in charge of arrangements.
