Bertha May Rodgers, nee Lucas, 88, of Millstadt, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday December 19, 2021 in Columbia, IL. She was born on June 4, 1933 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Everett and Myrtle Lucas, nee Richardson and they precede her in death. Bertha was also preceded in death by her husband, Truman E. Rodgers, her children, Nancy Rodgers and Michael Rodgers, her grandchildren, Ricky Douthit and Amy Carrico, four sisters: Bobbie Craig, Pauline Stafford, Susie Carner, Florine Vincent, her brother, Elbert Lucas, and her sister, Mildred Fischer.

Bertha was an avid reader and loved cooking, especially baking and was known for her legendary biscuits. Prior to retirement, she worked as a florist. In her spare time, she pursued genealogy with great passion and loved playing Wii bowling at the Millstadt Senior Center. Bertha cherished time spent with her family and especially loved crafting with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Trudy Kopf of Colorado, Bonita (Terry) Carrico of Waterloo, IL, Alice Rodgers, also of Waterloo, IL, Carol Rodgers of Arkansas, and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Rodgers of DuQuoin, IL; her siblings: Linda Lucas of Ohio, Ernest Lucas of Louisiana, Eddie (Louise) Lucas of Arkansas, Larry (Mary) Lucas of Mississippi and Jerry (Kathy) Lucas of Tennessee; her grandchildren: Joe Kopf, Amanda (Ed) Ahne, Alivia (Adam) Becherer, Jennifer Eads, Shanan (Lisa) Rodgers, Hydie Rodgers and Joe (Kristen) Akers II; 11 great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millstadt Senior Center
