Alray Zipfel passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 14, 2025, in Mascoutah, IL. He was born in Evansville, IL and had lived in Belleville, IL for most of his life.
He leaves behind his sons; Scott Allan (Teresa) Zipfel of Waterloo, IL and Bryan Ray (Terry) Zipfel of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren: Erica, Brendan and Brittney; and his great-grandchildren: Kevil, Nalani, Payton and James; his brothers: Larry Zipfel of Belleville, IL and Jimmy Joe Zipfel of St. Petersburg, FL and his sister; Charmaine Zipfel-Hughes also of St. Petersburg, FL.
Alray was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Frances Mae (Kumke) Zipfel and his brothers: Dennis Zipfel, Frank Zipfel, Richard Zipfel, Gary Zipfel and Steve Zipfel.
Alray worked for Boeing Aircraft Company and owned various antique shops over the years. He also participated in antique and depression glass shows. He loved spending time with his family and friends, gardening, home decorating, and antiquing. He had a passion for serving the needy. He was of the Catholic faith and considered himself a floater when it came to the parishes he attended.
At his request, cremation will take place with no funeral, viewing or visitation. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Evansville, IL, at a later date and will be attended by immediate family only.
Memorial contributions in memory of Alray Zipfel may be directed to the animal shelter of your choice.
