William Paul Ahlbrand, Jr. of Columbia, Illinois entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbia, Illinois, having attained the age of 79 years, 1 month and 17 days.
Born on December 19, 1936 in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of William Paul and Linda Ahlbrand, Sr., nee Serrian. He was united in marriage to Barbara Degner on July 19, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she survives his passing.
Mr. Ahlbrand was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Columbia, Illinois and a retired professor at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Lloyd (Peggy) Ahlbrand and Wendell Ahlbrand and his sister, Donna (Richard) Miller.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara Ahlbrand of Columbia, Illinois; his children, Steven Paul (Cory) Ahlbrand of Ballwin, Missouri, Kevin William (Christine) Ahlbrand of Manchester, Missouri and Julie Margaret Sharp of Columbia, Illinois; his sister, Carol (Albert) Galovich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his sister-in-law, Diana Ahlbrand of Valparaiso, Indiana; his grandchildren, Brett Ahlbrand of St. Louis, Missouri, Jack Ahlbrand, Abby Ahlbrand, both of Ballwin, Missouri, Samuel Ahlbrand, Jennifer Ahlbrand, both of Manchester, Missouri and Harlana Sharp of Springfield, Missouri; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 227 Good Haven Drive, Columbia, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Lutheran High School Association or St. Paul's Lutheran Church Historical School.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Pastor Steven Theiss officiating.
All other services will be private.
The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
