Roy (Sonny) L. Otten

Roy (Sonny) Lee Otten, 79 of Columbia, IL passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO.

Roy was born on May 13, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL to Leroy and Billea Otten, nee Hack and they precede him in death. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, M. Diane Otten, an infant daughter, Michelle Lyn Otten, a brother, Jerry Otten and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Branson.

Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired after 42 years of service as a switchman at the Illinois Central Railroad, later becoming Kansas City Southern Railroad. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Wayne Otten, Brian Otten and Dina (Otten) Livingston. His grandchildren; Michelle (Harley Howard) Livingston and Miles Livingston. His brothers; Marvel (Teresa Rusteberg) Otten, David (Ellen) Otten and his sister, Rosalie (Allen) Kern, his sisters-in-law; Pamela (Bill) Coplin and Barbara (Mike) Fair and his brother-in-law, Clyde Branson in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
