Roberta "Robin" D. Niemann

Roberta “Robin” D. Niemann, nee Vail, 80, of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Senior Community on Thursday July 6, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1942, in Dover, DE to Robert D. and Marjorie C. Vail, and they precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Leigh Ann Volas and Gail Dixon.

Robin was a very kind, caring and thoughtful person who enjoyed making cross stitch baby quilts, baking cakes for every family member and co-workers’ birthday (nearly every day) and was a devoted cheerleader for family and friends’ sporting events, plays and other activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister and brother-in-law Marjorie (Judy) and Thomas Downey; her children Jennifer (Tim) Martin, Mary Claire (Keith) Nordmann, Bill Niemann, Christopher/Ted (Melissa) Niemann and Ryann (Ben) Wich; her grandchildren Hannah (Matthew Bemmish), Zoe Martin, Ainsley Martin, Kyle (Mallory Bugg) Nordmann, Cole (Alana Reinhardt) Nordmann, Amanda (Dave) Wetzler, Tyler (Ciara Schaefer) Magruder, Atticus Wich, and Yvaine Wich; great-grandchildren Walker and Witten Wetzler and dear friends Rick and Cathy Rosen and family.

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday July 15, 2023, at Althoff Catholic High School Heritage Hall, 5401 W. Main St., Belleville, IL 62226. Visitation from 10:00am-11:00am, memorial service immediately following at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Althoff Catholic Performing Arts Department and will be accepted at the service or may be mailed directly to Althoff Catholic High School, 5401 W. Main St., Belleville, IL 62226.
