Richard Allen Jones

Richard “Rich” Jones, 84, born November 10, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL, died October 26, 2023, at Bria of Mascoutah, Mascoutah, IL.


Rich was a United States Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He was a musician, teacher and worked in the insurance industry. In addition to his love of music, he enjoyed goose and duck hunting, riding horses, taking care of his dogs and was an avid reader.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Sonnie” and Melba, nee Shoemaker, Jones.


He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Michelle) Jones; daughter, Julie (Tim) Glaze; granddaughters, Alexis Jones (fiancée James Stathis), Nicole Jones; sister Maryhelen (John) Sutter and brother Robert Jones; nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Rich’s caregiver, Jeanette Mosby, the staff of Bria of Mascoutah, ProMedica Hospice and Dr. David LeBeau for their kind and compassionate care.


Memorials may be made to Community Bible Church, Swansea, IL or to ProMedica Heartland Hospice, Fairview Heights, IL.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 31, 2023, at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL from 10am-11am. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Steven Rogier officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
