Paul Edward Piantanida, 81, of Millstadt, Ill., born June 4, 1930, in E. St. Louis, Ill., died on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
Paul was a retired worker for Hunter packing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Paul and Anna, nee Rafalowski, Piantanida, and a sister, Mary Ann Goetz.

Surviving is his wife the former Mary Ann Peskar whom he married on September 6, 1956, at Holy Angels Church, E. St. Louis, Ill. six children Paul (Nancy) Piantanida, Millstadt, Brigette (Mark) Wittenborn, Carpentersville, Ill., Robert Piantanida, Millstadt, Suzette (William) Weldon, Schaumburg, Ill., Lizette (Scott) Poston, Red Bud, Ill., and Annette (Tony) Tajkarimi, Wildwood, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Adam Piantanida, Tiffany (Dan) Zeller, Stephanie Piantanida, Sam Weldon, Holly (Sean) Robbins, Jamie Poston, Phillip Poston, Serena Tajkarimi, Kaivon Tajkarimi; two great-grandchildren, Vanessa Zeller, and Addison Zeller; a sister, Virginia McMillan, Kansas City, Mo.; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Sam J. Weldon Trust and will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 P.M. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt, Ill., and from 9 to 9:45 A.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 25. A Prayer Service will be held at 5 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral procession to leave the funeral home at 9:45 A.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, for a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, Ill with Father Marvin Volk, officiating. Interment will be in Mt Evergreen Cemetery, Millstadt, Ill.
