Otto Theis

Otto Theis of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Monday, October 11, 2010 at his home having attained the age of 82 years, 11 months and 6 days.

Born in Union County, Illinois on November 5, 1927, he was the son of William and Molly (Angel) Theis. He married Joann Son, Yung He on September 15, 1953 in Pusan, Korea and she preceded him in death on April 17, 1996.

Mr. Theis was a meat packer for Hunter Packing Company for 33 years, a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 7980 in Millstadt, the American Legion, the Millstadt Commercial Club, the Millstadt Union Fire Department, 44th Engineers Local, the Korean War Veterans Association, and a former member of the Planning and Zoning Committee of the Village of Millstadt.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and his wife, Joann were his brothers and sisters, Edwin Theis, Norman Theis, Carl Theis, Alvin Theis, Lena Rosena, Wilhelmenia Menees, Mary Louise Olson and Elsie Davis.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Dale (Debbie) Theis of Millstadt, Illinois Darrel Theis of Millstadt, Illinois, Daniel Theis of Millstadt, Illinois, Nancy (Robert) Janke of Waterloo, Illinois, Vivian (Raymond Dearie) McCallum of New York, New York and Donna (Roger) Glenn of Maple Grove, Minnesota; his sisters and brothers, Emma Richardson of Millstadt, Illinois, Marie Cupp of Belleville, Illinois, Charlie (Caroline) Theis of Millstadt, Illinois, Gilbert Theis of Metropolis, Illinois, Howard Theis of Ullin, Illinois, Raymond Theis of Anna, Illinois and Larry (Gayle) Theis of Anna, Illinois; his grandchildren, Erin Theis, Dustin (Jamie) Theis, Jamie Theis, Andrew Glenn, Austin Glenn and Matt Janke; his great-granddaughter, Violet Ann Marie Theis and many friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice or St. James Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home. The Millstadt Union Fire Department will conduct a service at 7:30 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois with full military honors accorded at the graveside.
