Loretta Veronica Schmidt, of Millstadt, Illinois, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Columbia Care Center, Columbia, Illinois. Loretta attained the age of 100 years, one month, and 15 days.

Loretta was born on October 20, 1915, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Ignatius and Agnes, nee Kurpias, Jablonski.

Loretta married the love of her life, Arthur Theodore Schmidt on June 2, 1937, in East St. Louis, Illinois. Arthur preceded her in death on May 21, 1970.

.Loretta spent her married life on the family farm as a housewife and mother. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Perpetual Help Sodality.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane (Lee) Neff, and two brothers, Joseph and Walter Jablonski.

She is survived by her daughter Margaret 'Margie' (Michael) Mills, of Oakland, California; her grandchildren Devin (Jeanett Tatia) Young, San Diego, California, Meagan (Steve) Jankowski, Columbia South Carolina, Ashley Mills, Washington DC, Bradley (Amanda) Neff, Austin, Texas, Lisa Williams, Acworth, Georgia, Amy (Jack)Townsend, Rocky Face, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Bradley David Neff, Alex Townsend, Mary Leigh Townsend, Jason Williams, Ella Jankowski, and Mia Jankowsky, special niece, Joan Tyler, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends

Memorials may be given to St. James Church for Masses and will be received by the funeral home.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 12:30 P.M. to 1:00P.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, Illinois.

FUNERAL: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 122, 2015, at the church with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
