Jay Robert Kossina, 65, of Waterloo, Illinois, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jay was born in Belleville, Illinois, on September 9, 1949, the son of Lawrence and Bernice, nee Herling, Kossina. On March 2, 1984, he married the former Kathleen Baker in Belleville, Illinois.
Jay served in the United States Army. He was a grainmiller for Golden Dipt Industries and then Kerry Industries.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

In addition to his wife Jay is survived by two children, Jessica (Tyler) Kearns, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ian Kossina, of Millstadt, Illinois; two sisters, Judy (Danny) Simmons, of Littleton, Colorado, and June (Arthur) Baumgartner, of Osage Beach, Missouri; one grandchild, Jenna Kearns, of St. Louis, Missouri, his three 'granddogs' Bear, Max, and Binx; and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be determined.
