Janice E. Burris

Janice E. Burris, 73, of Waterloo, IL, passed away in St. Louis, MO, on Monday October 23, 2023. She was born on December 29, 1949, in Evansville, IN to Thomas and Mary Walls, nee Grayson and the precede her in death. Janice was also preceded in death by her grandparents and brothers and sisters.

Janice graduated from Belleville Area College in 1989 with her associate degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for the next 20 years at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and especially enjoyed romance and fantasy novels. She also loved watching The Young and the Restless. She was a pet lover and was devoted to caring for her dogs. Janice raised her grandchildren and provided a loving home for them, sharing her kindness and generosity throughout their upbringing. She was a beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, Hugh Burris, her son, Shannon (wife Shannon) Ruckhaber, her siblings: Donna (Ronnie) King, Louise (Ed) Davis and Mike (Vickie) Mills and her grandchildren: Anthony Ruckhaber, Victoria Ruckhaber, Dustin Ruckhaber and Blake Ruckhaber in addition to extended family and many beloved friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday November 2, 2023, at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL from 11:00am-12:00pm. Funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Entombment will take place privately at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org and will be accepted at the funeral home.
