James D. Thompson, Jr.

James Daniel Thompson, Jr., 72, of Collinsville, IL passed away on Monday November 13, 2023, at his home. James was born on December 24, 1950, in East St. Louis, IL to James D. and Eleanor L. Thompson, Sr., nee Maxwell and they precede him in death.

James entered the United States Army as a result of the draft for the Vietnam War in 1968. He served his country proudly for a full tour of two years and was honorably discharged. He returned home and worked in security services for many years and later as a roofer. In his spare time, he loved playing the guitar and collecting model trains. James was a man of faith and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: James D. Thompson III, Cissie Thompson, Jaime (Jeremy) Mifflin and Evelyn (Stanley) Carnahan, his siblings: Janet Goodman, Billy Thompson, Ruby Kabureck and Leah Clark, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren in addition to many friends.

James will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors in a private service.
