Hilman Albert 'Pop' Rainwater

Hilman Albert 'Pop' Rainwater of Millstadt passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at his home, having attained the age of 85 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Born on July 13, 1924 in Camden, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Samuel and Bessie (Hartley) Rainwater. He was united in marriage to Wilma Clement on June 25, 1942 in Corinth, Mississippi.
Pop was an autoworker for General Motors for 30 years, was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, a member of Millstadt Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 7980 and the Millstadt Sportmens Club.

Preceding him in death besides his parents, were his brothers, Brent Rainwater, Charlie Rainwater, Wayne Rainwater and Junior Rainwater, all of Camden, Tennessee; his sister, Allie May Rainwater of Camden, Tennessee and a grandson, Brian Young of Oak Grove, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Rainwater of Millstadt; his daughters, Jeanne (Jerry) Young of Oak Grove, Missouri, Sandra Shevlin (Tom Yoch) of Smithton, Mickie Rainwater of Bloomfield, New Mexico; his grandchildren, David Young, Jeff Shevlin, James (Amy) Shevlin, Michael (Crystal) Young, Sara (Phillip) Biffar, Amanda Johnson, Jonessa Johnson, Taylor Turner and Savanna Turner; his great-grandchildren, Addie, Lindsay, Sam, Elycia, Claudia, James, Jr., Barrett, Brody and Brooklyn; his sisters, Fay Hargis and Frances Waters, nieces, nephews, dear friend and caregiver, Laura Dunn and many extended family and friends who knew him as Pop.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday, November 23, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt. Millstadt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 will conduct services at 6:00 P.M. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Garrison officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.
