Dana Renee York

Dana Renee York, nee Sims, 61 of Millstadt, IL passed away at her home on Tuesday May 31, 2022. Dana was born on October 5, 1960, in Baltimore, MD to Ed and Myra Sims, nee Foulke and they precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jim Herndon.

Dana grew up in Cahokia, IL and graduated from SWIC with her Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice. She married her husband, Vincent York at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Belleville on September 21, 1985 and they enjoyed 36 years of marriage. In her free time, Dana was an avid and talented crafter. She enjoyed counted cross stitch and ceramics, especially. Dana loved cooking and entertaining her friends and family. She also loved the great outdoors and liked to fish and go camping. She was very interested in history and enjoyed visiting historic places across the country and learning about the richness of the past. Most of all, Dana enjoyed the time she shared with her family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Vincent York, her children: Zachary York, Sarah York and Staci York; her 6 brothers and sisters, her grandchildren: Anastasia Boyer, Aiden Boyer and Jackson Boyer; her cousins, Jay and Alice Holtzhauser, her Aunt Florence Rye as well as many extended family members and beloved friends.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday July 9, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, IL from 9:00am-10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10;30am, with Fr. Marvin Volk and Fr. Ken York. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, IL.
