Peters, Betty Jean, 73, of Millstadt, Illinois, died at her home on Friday, November 17, 2017. Betty was born on Tuesday, December 28, 1943, in Red Bud, Ill. the daughter of Helmut and Vivian, nee Cashion, Kinzinger.
Betty was a graduate of Waterloo High School, class of 1961. She was employed with the U.S. Army, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and at Scott AFB before joining the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Illinois. She retired from the US Attorneys Office as the Administrative Officer with over 25 years of service.
She was an active member of the Millstadt Community. She was a member of the Millstadt Civic Club for many years where she served as President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary; a charter member of GFWC IL Nancys Bluebirds, and an active member of the General Federation of Womens Clubs, holding numerous positions on the Illinois State Board including Recording Secretary for the Executive Committee. As a member of Hope Christian Church, she served as an ambassador, a greeter at Sunday Services, and as a volunteer at the Hope Church Food Pantry.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Walter Eugene Kinzinger, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her children, Tamara "Tammi" (James Landry) Peters, Millstadt, IL. and Jason (Lawanda Shepherd) Peters, Kansas City, Mo; grandchildren, Brandon (Danielle) Peters, Ft. Polk, LA., Bailee Boker, Millstadt, IL.; and Jordan Peters, Vandenberg AFB, CA.; great-grandson, Owen Peters; a brother, Richard (Mary) Kinzinger, Waterloo, IL.; sisters, Mary (Richard) Dambacher, Freeburg, IL., Delores (Dee) Kinzinger, and Alice (Richard) Betlach, both of Millstadt, IL.; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Those wishing to make a memorial in Bettys name are asked to make the donation to the USO of St. Louis, and the Diabetes Foundation.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt, Il. and from 9 to 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Hope Christian Church, Columbia,IL. Funeral services will follow at 11 A.M. at Hope Church..
Interment will follow at the Kolmar Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo, IL.
