Arthur Everding, Jr.

Arthur Everding, Jr., 84 of Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois, passed away at 10:52am on Thursday April 2, 2020 at his daughter’s residence with his family by his side. He was born on December 4, 1935 to the late Arthur Everding, Sr. and Caroline (Hamiester) Everding. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Melvin (Fern) Everding and Clarence (Linda) Everding.

He married Shirley Lehr of Tilden, Illinois on June 9, 1956, and she survives. He is also survived by a sister; Marcella (Dan) Koebel, his children; Sheryl McKnight and Steven (Diane) Everding. His grandchildren; Brad (Stephanie) Meyer, Derek (Bridget) McKnight, Jennifer (Mark) Procopio, Cody (Stefanie) Everding, Travis Everding and Nicholas Everding in addition to 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Art worked as a union carpenter for many years and for The United Mine Workers of America from which he retired. Art was a United States Army veteran and served as a staff sergeant from 1957-1963.

Art will be laid to rest with honor at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with full military honors at a later date due to current restrictions. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church 10235 Prairie Road, Red Bud, IL 62278. Creason Funeral Home of Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
